The Human Bean

Area Construction Group recently completed the site work and pad preparations for the new modular building of The Human Bean, a popular coffee shop chain, ensuring a smooth setup for the establishment’s new location.

The project began with comprehensive site work, which included clearing the land, grading the area, and ensuring proper drainage for the new structure. Area Construction Group then prepared a solid foundation, pouring a concrete pad to provide a stable base for the modular coffee shop building.

The team also handled the necessary utility connections, including water, power, and sewer, ensuring that everything was in place for the building’s installation. With attention to detail and a focus on precision, Area Construction Group completed the pad site preparation efficiently and on schedule.

Now, with the site ready to receive the new modular building, The Human Bean is set to bring its high-quality coffee and friendly service to the community in a brand-new location.

DC Public Defender’s Office – Chesapeake Mission Critical

Through our client, Chesapeake Mission Critical, we assisted in managing a small data center and office buildout for the DC Public Defender System.

Located at 633 3rd St NW, in Washington DC, we provided management expertise and a full-time, onsite superintendent to ensure the smooth progression of the project. One of the challenges of this buildout was juggling the coordination of our sub-contractors with the building GC’s other subcontractors, while still ensuring the project progressed smoothly.

Even a small datacenter buildout includes scheduling complexities that need to be managed efficiently. For example, consider the importance of effectively allocating the installation of UPS systems (Uninterruptible Power Supply), specialized raised flooring, data center cabling, specialized cooling pipes, other technical equipment, fire suppression and alarm systems, and other technical data center equipment. All of these details must be timed appropriately in order to keep the project running smoothly and on schedule.

One of the benefits of having an experienced General Contractor, such as Area Construction Group, handling your project is that they have the expertise to handle unexpected challenges that arise during the project. The size of the datacenter and the layout constraints created a unique issue in Meeting ADA requirements at first; However, thanks to effective coordination between us, the architect, our specialized datacenter flooring contractor, we were able to figure out an equally unique solution and complete the job accordingly.
